How do you go about summarising 2020, the year that was? I always see the end of the year as a great time for reflection and 2020 has been a huge one for us at FEAT. We have grown together, been challenged together and most importantly, stayed together, be it in the park or online! The impact that each and every one of you have on our mission as a company is incredible, as a business is nothing more than the individuals who make it up.
When I look back at this year, I can never thank each and every one of you enough. Thanks for your support through what has been a true roller coaster, for pushing us as a company, for challenging us and ultimately forcing FEAT to grow. Ultimately, our purpose as a company is centred around bringing authentic human connection back into people's worlds. We do this through Fun Community based Outdoor Training.
2020 has been the type of year that tests this. We had fires in Jan, floods in Feb, Gemma heading overseas, COVID lockdown and Al resigning. Yet, these things will not be the lasting memories of 2020, rather I will remember this year for it strengthening the FEAT Community. I love the saying that a flat road never made for a strong runner, the same way an easy life never makes for a strong person. While the challenges of this year were plentiful, I will be remembering how every one of these brought us together as a training community and strengthened our commitment to the FEAT Vision.
So how we are choosing to remember 2020 is simple. Since the year began we have filled it with truly FEAT events, launching with our Triple J Hottest 100 session and Palm Beach session in Jan & Feb. In March we got to support two of our amazing trainers through big life events and we were also given the opportunity to innovate in a way we have never done before. The launch of our FEAT From Home training showed that it is the Community that is the glue behind our training. In April we celebrated FEAT's 2nd Birthday with 89 people training with us across 5 countries. Come May, there were 3 incredible new trainers coming on board in Janine, Petra & Bigyan as well as the launch of our most successful Winter FEAT so far. We moved into our new incredible HQ Office Space where the trainers regularly get together and August saw our biggest Dip & FEAsT as well as celebrating Al's last sessions. In September we launched our newest FEAT training location in Annandale and when I look back at 2020 as a whole, the FEAT vision is driving forward as strong as it could possibly be.
As always, this is all thanks to YOU. We would be nothing without the support that you provide us every single day. I can not thank you enough from the bottom of my heart and am so excited to continue along the path as we lead into 2021!! On that note I will leave you with one of my favourite quotes:
"...Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
